The King Estate brand itself was at about 111,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank.

Following The Cocktail Trend, Salted Beer Is Happening
Now, it seems, that salt is making a return into the beer sector as well.
Walking Dead Bourbon
In October, Diageo will release The Walking Dead Kentucky Straight Bourbon, a limited edition celebrating the Robert Kirkman comic book series. The 47% abv whiskey is bottled under the new Spirits of the Apocalypse brand, a partnership between Diageo and Skybound Entertainment, the company behind the Walking Dead comics.
The whiskey’s bottle features numerous references to the series, including the signature of protagonist Rick Grimes, and the symbols of four factions trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. This first release in the Spirits of the Apocalypse series will be available across the U.S. for a limited time for a suggested price of $35 a 750-ml. According to USA Today, only 30,000 cases will be produced.
The move represents another entertainment tie-in for Diageo, which has had success with its Game of Thrones-themed Scotch whiskies. Johnnie Walker White Walker, for example, sold nearly 80,000 cases in the U.S. in only a partial year on the market in 2018, earning Impact “Hot Prospect” honors.

New Knob Creek
Beam Suntory has launched Knob Creek Quarter Oak, the latest limited time offering for the brand. The 50% abv whiskey was blended from standard Knob Creek and a variant that matured for a minimum of four years in quarter cask American oak barrels before bottling. According to the company, the whiskey from the quarter casks adds deeper and richer oak notes compared to the standard bottling. Knob Creek Quarter Oak is now available across the U.S. for a suggested price of $50 a bottle.
New Guinness
Guinness has added a new stout to its portfolio, straight from the brand’s Open Gate Brewery in Maryland. Guinness Over the Moon Milk Stout is a 5.3% abv beer brewed with roasted barley and lactose for a rich, slightly bitter-sweet brew, according to owner Diageo Beer Co. The beer, a permanent addition to the family, is now available in Boston, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans for around $11. Beginning in November, it will be available nationwide for a limited time.
