Saturday, February 18th, 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Do you really know what’s in a bottle? How about if it’s really organic? Do you know only 5 corporations own 80-90% of wines for sale? Do you know how to get more value for your money or find the best for your specific palate when shopping for wines? This year we are re-opening after our winter break with a new and exciting Creative Arts Workshop, The Art Of Wine Buying! There is no better time for lively, educational conversation and the warmth created by sipping on wine than in the chill of winter!

Mark Lenzi, co-owner of Franklin Liquors will provide us with information on Wine Buying Tips Using Wine Labels that mostly only those in the industry know. No longer will you purchase a bottle solely based on its label design. This sit down wine tasting/education will explain all the truths and lies on a wine label. After this event buying wine will never be the same! http://www.franklinliquors.com

Cost: $38 includes cheese, meats and crackers, wine and information.

Does getting older change our sense of smell and taste?

Research indicates some of us will be lucky and will hang on to most of the abilities we already have, while others will face a downhill slide in our powers of perception. All this is highly individual and a gradual decline in sensitivity may not always be obvious.

Trinchero Acquires Fetzer’s Five Rivers Winery

Trinchero Family Estates (TFE) has acquired Paso Robles, California-based Five Rivers Winery from Fetzer Vineyards for an undisclosed sum. The purchase includes Five Rivers’ 90,000-square-foot winemaking facility, as well as 46 acres of land, of which 15 acres are planted to Petite Sirah. TFE plans to update the Five Rivers facility and add white wine production to the site. TFE says the move furthers its ongoing effort to boost its premium and super-premium wine business, while expanding its presence on the Central Coast.

In a statement to SND, Fetzer Vineyards COO Cindy DeVries said, “The Five Rivers brand will continue to be produced following sale of the Central Coast winery to Trinchero, with production relocating to our Hopland, California-based winery.”
